A BLESSING IS...BEING HEALTHY

Why is it that somethings tend to come easily for some, while others struggle no matter how hard they try? I have noticed this about money, love, intellect and health.

Let's consider health.

I'm one of those who use to take health for granted - as I am sure is not uncommon with most young people. However, with the worldwide buzz about Micheal Moore's movie Sicko as well as the constant barrage of news media we get about just how unhealthy people in America are, to have good health today is truly a blessing.

I have watched dear friends around my age (in their early 40's) lay victim to cancer, high blood pressure, etc. It is sad and hard to watch the suffering of the young. The earliest I remember a peer of mine dying was when I was in 10th grade. Mimi died of leukemia at age 15. She was way too young to die.

So, as I am blessed enough to be greeted by another day, I am thankful for my health. It is so easy to get emotionally caught up in the stuff we don't have like money or love. However, I've quickly learned that to have those things and not have one's health can be quite an unfortunate state.

Therefore, if you are blessed enough to know good health, use that as your leveraging tool to go out and live life to its fullest. Pursue the big dreams you've dreamed all your life for tomorrow is not promised, but we do have the blessing of the here and now.

Be Blessed and In Good Health.

A BLESSING IS...HAVING THE COURAGE TO LIVE COURAGEOUSLY

Among one of the most difficult decisions one can make is to decide to fulfill his or her life's purpose.

We exist in a "civilized" society that encourages us to take heed of the presumed safety associated with following the status quo. However, often, after years of engaging in the status quo and following the rules, it is not unusual for people to be confronted with the emotions of depression and frustration for not experiencing the anticipated satisfaction for having "achieved the American dream." Sometimes, instead we find out, due to a restless spirit, we are unexpectantly caught in the middle of a nightmare.

Overall, the lessons of life must be learned one way or another. Therefore, if life promises moments of struggle, why not struggle on your terms. As a wise woman once shared, it is the best students who often receive the hardest tests.

Know courage today and be blessed.
